Sounders release 2021 preseason plans
Sounders will spend most of preseason in region but travel to Southern California from April 6-11.
The Seattle Sounders will begin preseason training on Monday at Starfire Sports Complex where they’ll stay for about five weeks before spending one week in Southern California from April 6-11 and then return home ahead of their April 17 MLS regular-season opener, the team announced on Friday.
The Sounders currently have five matches scheduled, just one of which will be against a MLS opponent. The other four matches are against USL sides. They’ll play the Tacoma Defiance on March 25, the Portland Timbers on March 30, LA Galaxy II on April 7 and then a double-header against San Diego Loyal and LAGII on April 11.
Players began reporting to Starfire on Feb. 21, allowing them to complete a league-mandated seven-day quarantine prior to the start of training. As of now, there are 22 players on the active first-team roster and 13 more on the Defiance roster.
