Harry Clarke announced on Friday that he’s extending his loan deal with Oldham Athletic to the end of the season, admitting he’s ‘delighted’ to do so.

Oldham Athletic and Harry Clarke both confirmed the extension of his loan spell on Friday. The centre-back only joined the League Two side until January, but they’re clearly happy with him and want to keep him around to the end of the season.

Clarke has made 19 appearances for Oldham since the summer, starting pretty much every single game he’s been fit to feature in. He made the League Two Team of the Week on consecutive occasions in December.

Oldham have managed to put some distance between themselves and the relegation zone, but they’re still a long way from guaranteeing safety at this stage. They’ll need Clarke performing at his best to ensure they secure their League Two status.

When a player is getting regular minutes for a team that needs him, it’s not really a tough decision to extend his stay. I’m sure he’ll get plenty more opportunities in the second half of the campaign.
