Karl-Anthony Towns Makes Chilling Statement After COVID-19 Diagnosis

Karl-Anthony Towns probably has been impacted by COVID-19 more so than any other player in the NBA.

Now, it’s impacting the 25-year-old Minnesota Timberwolves center again.

Friday’s game between the Timberwolves and Memphis Grizzlies at Target Center was the latest to be postponed due to the NBA’s health and safety protocols.

Shortly after that announcement, Towns revealed on Twitter he had tested positive for COVID-19.

Sure, Towns is almost 7-feet tall and a professional athlete with access to some of the best medical care in the world. But still, he has plenty of reason to be scared by this diagnosis.

Over the course of the pandemic, seven of Towns’ family members, including his mother, Jacqueline, passed away after battling the virus. It’s something that’s understandable impacted him immensely so far this season.

“I pray every day that this nightmare of a virus will subside and I beg everyone to continue to take it seriously by taking all of the necessary precautions,” Towns said in his statement.

“To my niece and nephew, Jolani and Max, I promise you I will not end up in a box next to grandma and I will beat this.”

Check out the full, chilling statement below.
