New Christian Eriksen interest spells bad news for Arsenal

0 5

Borussia Dortmund are plotting a January transfer for want-away Inter Milan midfielder Christian Eriksen, claims a report.

The Denmark international’s time in Milan has not gone according to plan after leaving Spurs in January.

The 28-year-old has started only four games in all competitions so far this season and he has been an unused substitute in the last three in Serie A.

Eriksen has given a pretty clear indication yet that he is unhappy at Inter.

PSG have been linked with a move, while there have also been rumours of an unlikely return to Tottenham.

“This isn’t what I dreamed of,” he said earlier this month.

While over the weekend Inter Milan chief executive Giuseppe Marotta suggested Eriksen can leave in January.

“Conte has already spoken about it thoroughly. I can just add that we do not certainly have to force a player to stay when he asks to leave,” Marotta told DAZN.

“We will have to evaluate the situation. Now he is available for Conte, who has been making him play in [Eriksen’s] respect and in the club’s respect.

“Up to now, we have not received any request from Eriksen, but at the right time we will try to find the right combinations.”

The latest from TMW is that Bundesliga side Dortmund are considering a move for him amid uncertainty over his current situation.

And that could well spell bad news for Arsenal, who are believed to be in the hunt for a creative spark in January,

As per il Corriere dello Sport, the Serie A giants wanted Granit Xhaka in a straight swap with Eriksen.

The Swiss star was reportedly unhappy at that prospect and now Dortmund have entered the fray to make life even more difficult for the Gunners.

The German outfit would be a difficult side to turn down, if the money is right.

Lucien Favre has some exciting youngsters in his side, including Erling Haaland, Gio Reyna, Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho.

Winks urged to go on loan

Meanwhile, Darren Bent has urged Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks to join Newcastle in the January transfer window to get some guaranteed game time.

The former Spurs striker, speaking to Football Insider, insists the 24-year-old needs to play if he wants to go to the Euros next summer,

Winks is reportedly ready to push for a move away in the new year. That is if he cannot convince Jose Mourinho that he deserves a place in his starting XI.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Moussa Sissoko have been Mourinho’s preferred midfield partnership so far this season.

And with The Athletic reporting that Toon boss Steve Bruce is looking for midfield reinforcements, Bent believes Winks should consider a move north.

He told Football Insider: “To be fair to (Jose) Mourinho, I do think he is quite honest and he’s quite fair – I mean, Danny Rose would probably beg to differ.

“I think for Harry Winks, I think there will be will be takers for him, even at Newcastle. He could go to Newcastle and play so there will be options for him in January.”
