Video: Footage emerges of Spurs man being ‘beaten up’ by international teammate

A video has emerged of Serge Aurier seemingly being beaten up by an international teammate during the recently concluded international break.

Aurier, who captains Ivory Coast, started both of their friendlies against Belgium and Japan during the international break, with the Elephants coming away with a 1-1 draw against the former and falling to a 1-0 defeat to the latter in Utrecht.

The controversial incident occurs on the team bus when the Tottenham man, who is strapped in his seat, is suddenly confronted by Serey Die.

Sion midfielder, Die, retired from international duty last year but The Sun reveals that he was invited to accompany the Ivorian squad.

The footage shows Die striking the Spurs defender multiple times on his head, before grabbing his neck and pulling his nose.

The Sun claims that the Sion man is even heard calling Aurier a “dirty b*****d” in French.

However, the report also quotes a source from within the Ivorian camp, who suggests that it was merely fun and games between the pair and denied suggestions that it was a brawl.

The source is quoted as saying: “Serey Die is a big wind-up merchant, and he often has a laugh with his team-mates. He makes for a good atmosphere within the squad.

“That is the reason why the coach, Patrice Beaumelle, decided to call him back into the national set-up.

“The video was shot before the game against Japan, and it doesn’t involve a brawl in any way.”
