Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio says he has told Tottenham that defender Milan Skriniar is not for sale.

Earlier this week we relayed a Di Marzio story claiming Spurs had opened talks with Skriniar over a move as Jose Mourinho looks to strengthen at centre-back.

After that, Football London reported Tottenham are ready to pay £32 million plus add-ons for Skriniar despite Inter’s £45 million valuation of the Slovakian.

But Ausilio says Inter do not want to let Skriniar leave having already sold Diego Godin.

“Tottenham are interested in Milan Skriniar. We had a meeting but we told them we don’t want to sell also Skriniar after Diego Godin,” said the Inter director (via Fabrizio Romano).

Godin joined Cagliari this week, just one year after leaving Atletico Madrid for Inter.

The 34-year-old’s exit apparently means Inter want to keep Skriniar as they are now one centre-back down.

But the fact the Italian giants have met with Tottenham perhaps suggests they are willing to sell for the right price.

The arrival of Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid means Spurs are now able to deploy attacking full-backs on both flanks, which could see Mourinho experiment with a back three.

If that’s the case, adding another centre-back to the squad is a sensible move – but will it be Skriniar or someone else?
