Baseball must figure how to keep Kyler Murrays of the world
Wait a minute. Kyler Murray turned down the chance to wear No. 73 in spring training, schlep around the minors a few years, ride buses through the New York-Penn League, Midwest League and Texas League and hope down the road he’s good enough to play big-league baseball?
Simply for an immediate roster spot in the NFL?
What’s he thinking?
He’s thinking clearly.
It wasn’t much of a choice for Murray to pick football over baseball. When he looks at the NFL, he doesn’t see the violence and danger as much as prime-time viewership, the best TV ratings in American sports and the chance to lead a team from the game’s most glorified and financially rewarding position, quarterback.
