IanTPure speculation on my part, but sometimes on level-crossings these things aren't accidents at all.
The Ufton Nervet incident in 2004 being an example.
Robert Enke, on foot in his case, killed himself by stepping in front of a train at a level crossing.
Which would be a bit of a grim echo of it, if it was in this case.
Really horrible that people can get into that place, where death seems like the only option.
