Skaters you were amazing, under new event protocols, concerns for safety, first time competing this season, you “Rocked It”! 

Coaches – Your event day routine was flipped over, but you still displayed the values of coaching that show us why you are in the sport – it is for the kids. 

Parent – I for one, so understand how hard it must have been to sit in the parking lot and watch a live stream of your child skate. Yet it was sacrifices like that, which allowed us to have this event. Thank You. 

Volunteers – COC would not have happened if it wasn’t for you. When something needed to be done, someone was there to do it.  The event ran smooth, great seeing new faces, and we carried a confidence and disposition all weekend that set the tone for the successful and safe event.

Colorado Skating Club want to thank all of you, Family Sports Center, US Figure Skating, Tri-County Health, Denver Figure Skating Club,  Centennial Skating Club, our wonderful referee Michelle Zeles-Hahn, judges & officials and everyone else who helped out. 

A few highlights we would like to share with you:

COC was one of the first skating competitions in the world since early March. There was only a 100-skater event 2 weeks ago in Minnesota we know of.

We had 317 on the live stream Friday night watching our all-star group of senior women and men skaters, and then 297 on Saturday night. It was viewed in places as far away as Japan, and even made the news there.

US Figure Skating attended and now wants us to build an Operational & Safety Policy document to help them to continue to develop their back to competing protocols. 

The largest event, was senior ladies short-program with 15 skaters on Friday night.

Not one person who entered the arena had a temperature over 99.6.

365 starts over 3 days, and we estimate over 1,000 volunteer hours served.
