[Women's Swimming and Diving] Jacobson makes history for CSM at NAIA nationals
COLUMBUS, Ga. – Emily Jacobson (FR/La Vista, Neb.) made history Friday.
Jacobson had the highest individual finish at the NAIA National Championships for any College of Saint Mary swimmer in school history. Jacobson took 10th place in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.69, which also broke a school record.
She was the only CSM swimmer to qualify for the finals Friday night.
"It was exciting to see Emily rebreak her 100 butterfly record and have the highest placing in CSM history in any individual swim at nationals," CSM Coach Cole Malin said. "We also had an awesome morning in the 100 breaststroke with Morgan Niewohner (JR/Beemer, Neb.) placing 20th and getting a new school record in 1:08.98. And then five minutes later Kirsten Aken (SO/Kansas City, Mo.) breaking that record in 1:08.75 and placing 17th."
Also for the Flames, Kailee Sunada (FR/Colorado Springs, Colo.) took 20th in the 400 individual medley in 4:54.36.
Competition continues Saturday for the final day of the meet.
"Tomorrow morning will be our final shot to get into the finals," Malin said. "We saved the best for last."
