Thompson cousins key James Logan 63-58 win over Monte Vista to advance in NCS playoffs

You just can’t keep those Thompson cousins down.

The James Logan-Union City duo were constantly on the floor diving for loose balls, but they kept jumping to their feet to combine for 43 points Saturday in a 63-58 North Coast Section Division 1 quarterfinal home win over Monte Vista-Danville.

Brett Thompson, a 5-foot-10 senior point guard, had a game-high 24 points, including 10 in the first quarter, to go with 10 rebounds and four steals.

Brahjon Thompson, a 5-10 junior, added 19 points as the Colts (23-5) advanced to semifinal play next week to face second-seed Dublin (25-4). Brett had 24 points and Brahjon 19 in a first-round win over Napa.

“I try to keep the same mentality no matter the game or circumstance,” Brett Thompson said.
