Handcycling Club of Canada: Awareness, Adaptive, Accessible
Primary Location: Stratford
Founded in 2012, the Handcycling Club of Canada is dedicated to growing the sport of handcycling and adaptive mountain biking (aMTB) across Canada. The club focuses on increasing awareness, education, and participation in adaptive cycling, helping riders of all abilities discover the freedom and excitement of riding through road handcycling and off-road adaptive mountain biking.
The organization brings together a community of riders ranging from recreational cyclists to experiences competitors, including athletes who have raced in road cycling events, mountain bike races, charity rides, and triathlons around the world. Through group rides, training opportunities, and events, the club supports both new and experienced athletes while promoting inclusive access to cycling for people with disabilities.
The club also provides helpful resources for riders looking to get started, including information on purchasing handcycles, finding places to ride, and connecting with other adaptive cyclists across Canada. Members can participate in events, camps, and development opportunities designed to build skills, confidence, and community.
At its core, the Handcycling Club of Canada believes that riding a handcycle or adaptive mountain bike is empowering. By welcoming handcyclists, adaptive mountain bikers, and supporters alike, the club continues to create opportunities for people to stay active, explore the outdoors, and experience the physical, mental, and social benefits of cycling.
