Introducing the CCC WhatsApp Community

To ensure we can continue communicating safely and effectively with all members — especially families of junior riders — the Canberra Cycling Club has created a new CCC WhatsApp Community.

Recent advice from AusCycling and the Australian Sports Commission highlights upcoming restrictions on how sporting organisations can use social media to communicate with young people. These changes require clubs to move away from relying on Facebook and Instagram for junior updates and to use channels that keep parents directly involved.

The CCC WhatsApp Community will provide:

• Important club-wide announcements
• Junior-specific updates for parents and guardians
• Ride and event notifications, including weather or schedule changes
• Dedicated announcement-only channels to reduce noise and keep information clear

This platform allows us to meet new safeguarding requirements while making sure members receive timely, accurate updates.
