NWTA Trail Sisters Celebrate 5th Annual Ride at Falls Creek

By Janelle Bickford

The rain couldn’t stop this year’s Trail Sisters guided ride at Falls Creek. Now in its fifth year, the event drew 19 riders who came ready for a true fall in the forest experience. What began as a grey and damp morning quickly turned into something special. The dirt was dialed, the sun peeked through, and the community vibe carried the day.

For many participants, Falls Creek was a new adventure. A few familiar faces returned, eager to experience the trail again and reconnect with the Trail Sisters community. “Riders supporting riders was the theme of the day,” Janelle reflected. That spirit of encouragement defined the ride from start to finish.

One participant, Christy, captured the feeling well: “It was a beautiful day in the forest with a group of skilled riders. I caught up with old acquaintances and met some great new people. We are so lucky to have such incredible swaths of nature we can ride in. Thanks to the NWTA for the work you do maintaining and advocating for trail systems. And thank you to Metropolis Adventure Team for sharing a favorite trail with us!”

Falls Creek, with its 20 miles of singletrack through the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, offers technical climbs, rowdy descents, roots, rocks, and even huckleberries in season. For Trail Sisters, it is the perfect setting to experience the backcountry trails that make the Pacific Northwest unique.

The ride wrapped up with chili, drinks, and time to connect. It was a fitting end to a day that celebrated trails, community, and the friendships built along the way. Special thanks to Metropolis Cycle Repair, Metropolis Adventure Team, and to Brad, Sean, and Kristen for helping make the experience possible.
