Trailside Cheers: Hull’s First Community Pub Opens Near the TPT
Hey there, trailblazers and ale enthusiasts! We’ve got some thrilling news that’s sure to make your next adventure on the Trans Pennine Trail even more memorable. Just a stone’s throw away from the Trail, nestled on Charles Street in Hull, lies The New Clarence – your new favourite refuelling point!
A Warm Welcome Awaits – The New Clarence is not just any pub; it’s Hull’s first community-owned pub, and it’s ready to welcome you with open arms. Pub manager Jamie couldn’t be more excited: “These are exciting times and we look forward to welcoming new and returning customers. After all the hard work, we are finally here.”
A Pub with a Purpose – This isn’t just about great drinks and delicious food; it’s about community spirit. Simon, the chairman of Hull Community Pub Society, shared his thoughts: “Some said it would never happen. Well, on Saturday (6th September), our dream will become a reality. This is people power; the public coming together to create Hull’s first community-owned pub. We cannot wait to welcome everyone back to The New Clarence.”
Sip, Savour, and Support Local – With a fantastic range of real ales, beers, and proper cider, there’s something for everyone. The beer garden is looking great, thanks to one of their dedicated volunteers. And if you’re a fan of traditional Sunday lunches, you’re in for a treat – they’re making a comeback!
Join the Celebration – The New Clarence is more than just a pub; it’s a celebration of Hull’s vibrant community. Simon added: “I’m hoping the reaction is going to be good, if social media and all the likes and comments are anything to go by – hopefully they will actually come through the door! With another real ale pub opening, it will attract more people to Hull and support the other real ale pubs here. That’s what we are about, a real ale pub serving quality food.”
