Spotlight on our volunteer artist Meaghan Conway!
Spotlight on our volunteer artist Meaghan Conway!
BICAS has been incredibly lucky to collaborate with Meaghan Conway, whose passion brings so much heart to our art programs! A longtime artist, she began welding art for BICAS after participating in our entry level welding class — and she’s been a regular in our space ever since!
We’re deeply honored and thrilled to celebrate her creative whimsy and marvelous command of structure and form in her metalworks. We thank her for her time and skill, which are donated generously; shifting between creating art for our programs and art for her own pursuits with each visit to the welder.

Why did you collaborate with BICAS?
I have always enjoyed visiting BICAS, and seeing all of the amazing art pieces at the annual art auction. BICAS has always been a welcoming place with helpful and creative staff.
How does the mission of BICAS Art align with your creative voice?
BICAS aligns with my interests and values of inclusivity, accessibility, sustainability, and community collaboration. I love that it is a place that anyone can go to learn more about bikes and gain new skills, and I love the recycling aspect.
About the Artist
Where are you from?
New York
What got you started making art?
Had been intriqued by metal art, and saw an ad for the BICAS welding workshop, and thought it would be a great intro
What’s your artistic background? (experience, education, etc.)
My last art class was Freshman year of high school, which is just to say I don’t have much formal training. I enjoy nature photography, but never really thought of myself as an artist. I have been intrigued by seeing art pieces that combine my love of wildlife and bikes.
Where do you get your inspiration for your art?
I would say nature is my biggest love and inspiration. I have always been fascinated by wildlife and nature has always been a happy, awe inspiring, and peaceful place for me.
Anything else?
Grateful to BICAS for hosting the workshop, and providing a space and tools, and to Antonio who has been super helpful in providing a lot of guidance
Thank you so much to Meaghan Conway!
