Ontario Cycling Partners with GovernWell to Strengthen Governance Across the Province’s Cycling Community

0 7

Ontario Cycling (OC) is proud to announce a new partnership with GovernWell, an innovative cloud-based platform purpose-built to support the governance needs of not-for-profit organizations who are incorporated in Ontario. This collaboration will provide OC and its affiliated clubs with access to a powerful tool that simplifies legal recordkeeping, streamlines board administration, and supports stronger, more compliant governance practices.

GovernWell, created by an avid cyclist and seasoned board member with firsthand experience in the nonprofit sector, has been successfully adopted by 85 organizations across the province. Now, Ontario Cycling becomes the first Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) to partner with this governance platform across its network.

“As an organization committed to transparency, accountability, and effective leadership, we are excited to bring GovernWell into our operational toolkit,” said Pam Julian, President & CEO of Ontario Cycling. “This partnership will enable our club boards & volunteer leaders to focus more on advancing cycling in Ontario and less on administrative hurdles.”

What GovernWell Brings to Ontario Cycling:

  • Centralized Recordkeeping: Secure, cloud-based storage for critical corporate documents.
  • Smart Governance Tools: Built-in activity tracking, automated reminders, and a one-click Annual Information Return filing system for the Ontario Corporate Registry.
  • Enhanced Board Support: Easy access for board members to essential documents and organizational history.
  • Reduced Risk and Greater Compliance: Supports PSO and club-level compliance with Ontario’s governance requirements and CRA expectations.

This partnership will also include free onboarding webinars and support for Ontario Cycling clubs interested in adopting the platform at a grassroots level. With over 60 member clubs across the province, Ontario Cycling is making a proactive investment in long-term organizational resilience, empowering local cycling leaders with the resources they need to govern well.

“We built GovernWell because we understand the pressures on nonprofit boards,” said Michael Gordon, Founder and CEO of GovernWell. “We’re thrilled to be working with Ontario Cycling and their passionate community of sport leaders to make governance easier and more effective.”

free informational webinar for OC members and club leaders will take place on Thursday, September 18 at 12:00 p.m. ET. Participants will see a live demo of the platform and learn how it can be customized for their organization’s needs.  Registration information will be provided closer to the date.
