New Trail for Fathers Day

0 17

Let's celebrate Fathers Day by riding some new bike infrastructure. It is a 37 mile [Route](https://ridewithgps.com/routes/51021487) on trails

The plan is

1. Meet at [Bellevue Brewing](https://www.bellevuebrewing.com/) in the Spring District
2. Ride EasTrail/Downtown Connector to Downtown Park in Redmond for a coffee break
3. Ride the Bear Creek Bridge to East lake Sammamish Trail with lunch in Issaquah
4. Ride the Mt to Sound Trail to Lake to Lake trail back to Bellevue Brewing for a cold beer

Parking could be an issue. There is limited street parking, which is free all day. The Spring District is dead on weekends, so park along Spring Blvd near the light rail station. I drove by Saturday afternoon and there were multiple open spots. Plan B is to unload the bike and [park underground](https://www.bellevuebrewing.com/where-to-park). Not sure the cost, [but my guess is $13](https://en.parkopedia.com/parking/underground/the_spring_district_garage/98005/bellevue/?arriving=202506031030&leaving=202506031230) The brewery validates parking, but for 4 hours ...? Plan C is to park nearby and bike over. Lake Bellevue and the 12th Pl Business Park are close by.

We will ride EasTrail (packed gravel) to the Downtown Redmond Connector (12 mi), bypassing construction at the light rail depot and the section past Toyota of Kirkland. I hope we will be able to ride the Phase 3 of the Downtown Redmond Connector. The [drone video makes it look like it is open](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3qQp7XcYwQ&t=58s). Nice way to avoid the Sammamish River Trail traffic. If not, we ride along Willows Rd to phase 2 of Downtown Redmond Connector into Redmond Downtown Park where we stop for a break. . There may still be a [Starbucks Pickup across the street](https://www.yelp.com/biz/starbucks-pickup-redmond-2) or [Hoffman's Bakery](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Hoffman's+Fine+Cakes+and+Pastries/@47.673748,-122.1244577,3a,75y,90t/data=!3m8!1e2!3m6!1sCIHM0ogKEICAgICy5dzbmQE!2e10!3e12!6shttps:%2F%2Flh3.googleusercontent.com%2Fgps-cs-s%2FAC9h4nog_4eYj5vbENcseg5QJtXZs3Ew7hDE22kEEnr-GZFSrPnFkz63qIYXLmueJFcl-wtqIk8UJRQCYYbDT1gImPgfheHgFYFP9YD3QiBiYD5D5262MczOx0f8wVav6J4p0zwY2H7w%3Dw195-h146-k-no!7i4032!8i3024!4m11!1m2!2m1!1scoffee+shop!3m7!1s0x549012c276368b95:0xdffeb160cea140c7!8m2!3d47.6736532!4d-122.1245013!10e9!15sCgtjb2ZmZWUgc2hvcFoNIgtjb2ZmZWUgc2hvcJIBBmJha2VyeaoBTwoJL20vMDJ2cWZtEAEqDyILY29mZmVlIHNob3AoADIeEAEiGtZmbEcuYzbLZRYqhCxrPxF6NKL2cxNUq3aoMg8QAiILY29mZmVlIHNob3DgAQA!16s%2Fg%2F1tfbbvt8?hl=en-US&entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDUyOC4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D) has Michele's sugar free syrups.

When we hop on the Redmond Connector going east, we cross the [new Beaver Creek Bridge](https://www.seattlebikeblog.com/2025/05/08/trains-are-cool-and-all-but-check-these-new-redmond-trail-connections-are-amazing/), so we can skip Marymoor completely on our way to the East Lake Sammamish Trail. We will ride down to Gilman Village to [Masa Mexican Kitchen](https://www.masakitchen.com/) (Mi 24.4)

Up the hill on the Mt to Sound Greenway, taking the phenomenal flyover of Factoria Blvd, checking your speed before tight turn up 118th. We will turn right on 12th taking the "trail" headed back to Bellevue Brewing.
