Spokes Edinburgh Map 2025
The 12th edition of the Spokes Edinburgh Map is here! It shows all known new development that has taken place over the last four years, since our 2021 map, in terms of paths, tram, significant housing developments, and more.
Major updates are the City Centre West-East Link and Roseburn to Canal cyclepaths, the tram to Newhaven and associated path and road changes. Smaller changes include new housing developments at Cammo, West Craigs, Leith, Granton, Gilmerton, Musselburgh and elsewhere, most with associated cycle routes. There are many more changes and tweaks throughout.
Although this is a greatly updated version of our 2021 (11th edition) map, we did not undertake a complete re-survey of the city. However, with extensive involvement from members of Spokes Planning Group, and cooperation from the Council, we are confident that most if not all significant changes are included. As always, we very much welcome feedback from users, and further updates or corrections will be noted for the next edition [email spokes @ spokes.org.uk].
All our maps are now printed on long-lasting tear- and water-resistant Polyart. When and if a current map does eventually wear out or, more likely, is replaced by a newer edition, the old map can be recycled (with plastic bags at bigger supermarkets).
Getting your map
The 2025 map should be available shortly in most good bike and book shops, retail price £7.50.
Important – please note that, since this is a (major) update rather than a complete revision, some shops are still selling the 2021 edition (cover price £6.95) so be sure to check which you are buying. The new edition also has the same front cover picture – but it is clearly marked as the 2025 edition, and the £7.50 cover price is printed on the back.

Thank you !!
- Our volunteer cartographer, Andy Follis, for his prodigous amount of skilled, painstaking and sometimes frustrating work to produce this – and our other – maps
- Spokes Planning Group members Alex and John who supplied most of the map update info and checked and rechecked the detailed drafts
- Robert and his ‘hustler’ volunteers who periodically visit shops to check on stocks – but do let us know of any shops where our maps are sold out. Please also get in touch if you’d like to be a hustler – we often need more, to cover a few local shops in one area or another
- Peter and Anne who deal with map distribution, sales and invoicing, respectively to shops and to individuals
- Katharine and the maps group who keep the basic organisation functioning, organise events, etc
- You! .. for buying our maps. And we so appreciate the fantastic feedback we receive. Please help further by reposting our bluesky post of this article
- Whoever else that this list has forgotten – you know who you are!
As you can see, producing and distributing the Spokes maps is a major operation, involving a lot more people-power than you might imagine … and we are proud that it is entirely done by volunteers. Since the first edition, long ago, well over 150,000 maps have been produced and sold in this way! Huge numbers of people have been helped to find new or better places and routes to go by bike.
What you say
- The most amazing series of maps for cycling. I wish we had one for Fife… Bluesky post
- What fantastic maps! These maps have been one of the best things about Scotland since moving here some years ago … email to Spokes
- I was at West Lothian Bike Library this morning and saw your two maps on the gate (picture). These would be fantastic to have up in our school too, how do we go about it? … email to Spokes
- We have a Spokes map up on the wall in a prominent location in our office (the entrance to the canteen). I often see colleagues looking at it, planning routes, etc. I would recommend the same for any office … CCE forum post
