Summer Trail Update
Upper Griffen – Fromme
Many hours have been logged working on a re-route on the Upper Griffen trail. With key help from Youth Trail Stewards, work has been completed building a wood retaining wall, laying down rock and topped with dirt.
Cabin Trail – Seymour
TAP Partner: Anthem Properties
Cabin trail repairs focus on the protection of exposed tree roots. Trail tread raised at entry to bridge and drainage shaped under/beside stump on riders right. Consolidate wide trail into right side of tree and close down/naturalize left side
Exposed tree roots covered by small retaining wall below roots and backfilling with rock and dirt to bring tread level up higher than the tree roots.
Lower Oilcan – Fromme
Lower Oilcan fix-up as part of the Mountain Ravens group volunteer trail day. Loose rock and gravel were removed from fall line section of trail, sections backfilled with mineral dirt running out into fresh drainage and improved water management. Eroded features were repaired and are ready to roll.
Meat Sweats – Cypress

With support from Fox Factory staff the Cypress build crew have been out in force to finish a Lower Meat Sweats reroute. (more dirt work to follow in the fall).
This reroute has successfully separated two trails to reduce user group conflicts. A berm was created by using many very large rocks as the structure.
This was then backfilled with rock, gravel, then gold.
Bookwus – Fromme

Summer refresh for Bookwus, all drains have been cleared, cleaned and improved. Reverse grade built back up in sections and lots of maintenance to trail tread. “Waterfall” topped up with mineral soil to help maintain rock work integrity
Empress Bypass – Seymour
TAP Partner: Neptune Terminals
Grade reversal added to one of the steeper sections, picked most of the pointy rocks out of the berms, added a few dozen buckets of dirt.
Wood-backed grade reversal (7′ 5″x8″ beam milled off-site) added 1/3 of the way down a badly eroded, steeper section of trail. Trailbed above and below raised with mineral soil, rocks also removed from the next berm to reduce ongoing wear and improve flow, mineral soil also added to the berm. Nearby ditches dug out and material moved to the back of the berm to increase moisture retention through the summer
Bobsled – Fromme
TAP Sponsor: Telus
Top to bottom sweep of the high traffic Bobsled, removed trail of loose rubble and removed protruding rocks then re-filled the holes with mineral soil. All drained were cleared. Previous work included adding new drainage to enhance trail bed.
Floppy Bunny – Fromme
Floppy Bunny is set for summer, Volunteers created two new exit berms, and re-filled the trail bed exit ramp. Work was completed to smooth out a harsh roll to hole before a berm and enhanced trail bed throughout berm sections.
Dale’s – Seymour
TAP Sponsor: Comor/ NS Ride
Extensive project work completed on Dale’s. Trail tread repairs including covering tree roots with rock and dirt and renewing drainage. Raised trail bed using rock fill and topped with dirt to improve drainage and improve user experience. Topped up hollows with rock fill and covered with mineral dirt to protect tree roots and ensure drainage. Rock armour installed in tight gap to raise tread and help avoid bikes getting caught in rocks.
Expresso – Fromme
TAP Sponsor: MEC
Work continues to cycle on repeat for Expresso with recent trail improvements from top to bottom. Recent work completed to improve berms: built up backing with rocks, scored surface, added and tamped mineral soil, covered top with moss.
