Distance challenge results

Well done to all riders who took part in this weekend’s distance challenge, the second of the year. We try to run three of these every season and it’s a great way for riders to see their progression both within the season and across multiple years.

Well done to all riders, and a big thankyou to all of our volunteer lap counters for keeping track of the riders to take manual lap data in case of problems with the chip timing system. We’re happy to say that the timing system worked really well, there were a few natural teething problems like you’d expect but nothing insurmountable. We owe a massive thanks to Stephen Hutchins for all the time spent setting up the system, running the timings throughout the morning, ironing out issues and tidying things up afterwards for publishing. Thanks to Stephen we now have a tested and working template setup in the system that will make future distance challenges that much easier!

Conditions were very windy so we didn’t think there would be much in the way of personal bests, but we were wrong and there were PBs tumbling all over the place! Also a big well done to all of our riders who were doing this activity for the first time and to those who stepped up to a longer distance. We know it’s a tough activity but it gives you a benchmark that you can now track your progress against over time. The coaches were really impressed with all of your efforts!

Results are available on our Distance Challenge page, just click the link to the Inner Ring or 10 Mile sheet depending on which session you attended. Times have been given Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum status against the club’s Distance challenge standards. Thanks to the timing system (and to Stephen who prepared the data) you can also now view your lap splits too!
