Cancellation Announcement – May 16 – Classic Fiver

Dear NSMBA Community,

With a heavy heart, we bring you the unfortunate news of the cancellation of our highly anticipated Classic Fiver event scheduled for Thursday, May 16, 2024. We understand the disappointment this may cause, but we wanted to provide you with a transparent explanation of the reasons behind this decision.

The Challenges
As many of you are aware, the entire bike industry is still adjusting to the post-Covid market, and many of our industry partners have had to scale back financially. Unfortunately, community events like ours have seen a reduction in support as a result. Despite our efforts to accommodate several interested partners, we ultimately could not secure a sponsor for this event.

Consideration and Reflection
Our staff spent numerous hours exploring alternatives to running the event without a title sponsor. However, as we tallied up the costs of doing the event ourselves, it became evident that it didn’t make financial sense. We realized that redirecting this time and effort towards securing funding, supporting our builders, and advancing efforts on new trail development would be a more strategic use of our resources.

The Responsible Decision
While this decision was undoubtedly difficult, we believe it is the most responsible course of action given the circumstances. Our top priority has always been to deliver a high-quality experience for our attendees, and we refuse to compromise on that commitment.

Looking Ahead
We understand our community’s enthusiasm for the Fiver events and are committed to bringing you an exceptional experience at our next scheduled event on May 30, hosted by Giant.

While the cancellation of this year’s Classic Fiver event is undoubtedly disappointing, we want to assure you that the NSMBA Event and Volunteer Committee is already hard at work brainstorming ideas for next year. Our goal is to deliver a more consistent series of events that will exceed your expectations and bring together the mountain biking community like never before.

We understand the importance of listening to our community and learning from past experiences. That’s why we will be working closely with our current event sponsors to gain more insight and feedback. Your input is invaluable to us, and we want to ensure that future events reflect the desires and preferences of our participants.

Thank you for being part of the NSMBA community, and we hope to see you at our next event. Your unwavering support means the world to us, and we remain dedicated to creating memorable experiences for all mountain biking enthusiasts.

Warm regards,

Deanne Cote
Executive Director
