AGM and Awards on Sat 12th November

0 5

Just a final note on the AGM and Awards for next Saturday. It’s a 3pm start and will finish at 5pm. The AGM part usually takes no more than 30 minutes, this will include reports from the Chair and Treasurer followed by the election of committee members. We recognise that this is the boring bit for younger members so we will aim to rattle through it pretty quickly.

Elections

The three Officer roles being elected are Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. Existing officers Mark Aberdour and Richard Scarrott are standing for re-election as Chair and Treasurer respectively. Paul Goodwill is standing down as Secretary, the committee would like to thank Paul for his involvement over the years and wish him the best on his exciting new voluntary role involved in junior racing! We are also pleased that Andy Neale will be standing for election as Secretary after several years involved in Saturday morning registrations, bike loans, marshalling and generally being super-helpful!

The additional Management Committee roles being elected are Membership Secretary, Welfare Officer and Deputy Welfare Officer. Daisy Leitch is standing for re-election in the Membership role and Claire Wheller is standing for re-election as Welfare Officer. As we mentioned in the previous website post about the AGM and volunteers, we would still like to have a second welfare officer, please do consider putting yourself forward if you’re a regular down the track on Saturdays and would like to get more involved. See the previous website post for more details. Thanks to all those who stepped forward following that post, as a result we now have Inner Ring registration and bike loans management sorted for next season which is great news.

Fun stuff

Following the election we have a variety of fun activities led by various members of the coaching and volunteering team, and course the award presentations!

Cycling quiz – we will test your cycling knowledge with prizes for the winners.

Updates from the coaching team – an update about achievements beyond the track such as regional and national race performances from PPYCC riders, and what some of our ex-members have been doing since moving on from PPYCC into the junior and senior ranks.

Raffle – Tickets are £1 each or £5 a strip. There are prizes galore including cycling kit and accessories.

Awards presentation with over 40 medals, 10 trophies/shields and numerous skills certificates which collectively recognise the amazing achievements of our riders. We are very pleased to be welcoming ex-PPYCC rider Lukas Nerurkar back to present the awards and certificates. Lukas has just completed his first season riding with Trinity Racing which included riding the Tour of Britain, which was sadly stopped due to the death of Queen Elizabeth so we didn’t get to cheer Lukas on when the Tour visited Southern England. Maybe next year!

Don’t forget we have the kit shop with brand new PPYCC club kit not to mention loads of second hand gear. And of course we’ll have a well stocked kitchen for all your tea and cake needs. Please do consider donating a homemade cake if you are able, please just bring it with you on the day.

All proceeds raised from the raffle, club kit and kitchen will go to the club. If you have your own bike for sale, you’re welcome to bring it along and find a space for it, but please be aware that the club cannot take responsibility for the security of bikes for sale.

The SCRL AGM and Awards will follow at 5.30 for those sticking around…

We look forward to seeing you next weekend!
