The Course

The longest stage of the race with 5 categorised climbs and a bunch that aren’t. All of the KoM climbs are in the last 100km headed by the cat 2 Signal d’Uchon. It’s a 5.7 kilometres climb at 5.7%. The thing is it’s not that simple. The first half is around 6% before it flattens with even a bit of slight descent. Then it is almost 1 kilometre at 9.4% before the last 700 metres climb at 13.1% to the top. That leaves just under 20k and the Côte de la Gourloye which is 2.4 km at 5.6%. There’s 8km left from there to the finish. There’s a hairpin turn just before the last k and that climbs to the line at around 3.6%.

The Favourites

250km! Longest stage for a long time. I can’t think of one this long since the turn of the century. That’s enough use of the word long. So a classic style stage that should be great for a break but when you’ve Sagz, Colbrelli, Bling and assorted others here, if they’re not in the break or represented, there could be enough teams that want to bring it back. Of course the big 3 of Ala, Wout and MvdP will like this stage even more and a couple in the early break today in Asgreen and SKA would like a chance again. It will be a tough one to pick.

The strict entry deadline is the official start time of the race, the neutralized roll-out or Départ Fictif. Be warned - if your post is timestamped one minute late your entry won't count! So do remember that there's no disadvantage to getting an entry in early, even the day before, because you may always change your picks up until the deadline. Feel free to rethink your picks when it emerges which riders are more or less popular with other players. If you make changes, post your revised 4 picks in a reply to your original post.
