Hybrid to road bike or new road bike

0 3
Hello everybody new to The Forum I got some questions I'm hoping this is the right place to ask them.

New to cycling haven't cycled in a lot of years I want to commute to work I bought myself a diamondback Trace comp it's a hybrid supposed to be a hybrid to me it's more of a mountain bike than it is a hybrid but it's supposed to be a hybrid.

I got a really good deal on it it's basically like brand new it's got like a hundred miles on it I mean you can hardly even tell it's never been ridden I paid $250 for it it's about a $500 bicycle new.

What I don't like it looks a lot like a mountain bike now after riding it I'm thinking I'm not a dirt person I'm never going to go in the dirt I don't want to ride in the dirt I did in my younger days I don't plan on going in any dirt at all. The bike has 27 speeds but it just seems slow it's got you know the standard hybrid tires a couple inches wide doesn't roll good it's got good Shimano Parts on it it shifts good I don't like the seating position.

Here's my question I was thinking of taking my Diamondback putting a stem on it to get the bars up a little bit more getting a slight Riser bar because I'm hunched over too much which I don't like that much. Then I want to add I have 700c rims I want to add some 32c road tires to it to get it to roll better to get it to go faster probably that's about it bars and tires maybe a seat maybe a little bit more of a comfortable of the seat.

So I'm like a hundred and 50th $200 I could do all that to my current Diamondback which would make it more of a sort of like a road bike, forgot to tell you it has front suspension that locks to me I want to get rid of that it's a lot of dead weight I was going to buy some carbon fiber forks rigid forks for it so I'm still all the pieces I'm probably in for $200.

I've read here and they're watched YouTube video some people say trying to convert your bike over like to a road bike I won't be putting drop bars on it but some people say it's it's like a waste it's like a waste of money it's never going to compare to a road bike.

So out of curiosity today I went to a cycle shop over near where I live in California and I thought I want to go test ride a road bike I guess it was considered an endurance bike so I got on it and I wrote it and I freaked out how freaking fast the thing is like just a couple cranks of the pedal and you're rolling compared to my bike I know road bikes very fastly and price.

The question is do I throw $200 into my current Diamondback and put skinnier tires on it carbon fiber forks different seat and make it sort of like a road bike or do I sell it and I could probably get my $250 back and then throw in a little extra cash and just buy a real road bike.

And I'm looking for suggestions 500 $550 I'm looking to get like an entry-level endurance bike looking for a suggestion from people or should I just convert my Diamondback over looking for any type of feedback would really appreciate it.

It's about a 5 Mile commute to work I do take my Diamondback now and it's sort of torture it's just doesn't seem like it's made for rides like that and on the weekends I'd like to start going on little bit longer rides you know 10 -15 mile rides 20-mile ride something like that to give you a little more idea where I'm at.
