Garmin Vector/Exustar pedal body swap

The Garmin Vector (1 and 2) pedal body is based on the Exustar PR2 road pedal, but a new pedal body costs more than double what the PR2 goes for.
It seems like you might be able to simply use the exustar body. They have the same fixing nut and are visually identical.
Has anybody tried this?...
