Opinion needed - Ultegra 10sp medium cage shifting substantially better than 105?

Bike came to me with an Ultegra short cage derailleur (exact model 6600, I think). Want lower gearing for climbs, so swapped in a brand-new 105 medium cage derailleur (exact model 5700, I think), brand-new 32t top cog cassette, brand-new chain, plus brand-new cabling/housing while I was at it....
