Canada’s Team Lott to play for bronze at 2026 World Mixed Doubles
GENEVA, SWITZERLAND — Canada’s Team Kadriana and Colton Lott will compete for the bronze medal at the 2026 ACE & Company World Mixed Doubles Championship.
The Canadian duo from Gimli, Man., faced Sweden’s Team Therese Westman/Robin Ahlberg in a closely contested semifinal match, ultimately falling 6-4 on Friday evening at Centre Sportif Sous-Moulin.
“I thought we had a good game and we made lots of good shots,” Kadriana said. “There were just some rocks that we didn’t get on the right side of the inch. They played well, and it was a very good mixed doubles game. We had some chances and some misses, so it hurts. But we still have a medal to play for, and we’re going to come out strong tomorrow.”
Canada will face Italy’s Team Stefania Constantini/Amos Mosaner in the bronze-medal game on Saturday at 4 a.m. (all times Eastern).
The Canadians are aiming for their first podium finish at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship since 2019, when Brett Gallant and Jocelyn Peterman took silver.
Two pivotal moments shaped the game’s outcome. Holding a one-point lead midway through, Canada appeared poised to steal in the fourth end. With two stones on the button late in the end, they guarded against Sweden’s angle raise, forcing a difficult double raise. However, the Swedish team executed a variation of the shot to escape trouble and score one, tying the game.
In the fifth end, Canada set up promising angles for a runback to remove two Swedish stones near the button, hoping for a multi-point end. The attempt narrowly missed, leaving both Swedish stones in the scoring area. Sweden then added a third, and Canada was unable to outdraw them, resulting in a costly steal of three.
Despite the setback, the Canadian duo—supported by national coaches Scott Pfeifer and Viktor Kjell—played a strong game and nearly mounted a comeback. They scored two on the power play in the sixth end and limited Sweden to a single point on their power play in the seventh.
Trailing by two with the hammer, Canada attempted to set up a shot to tie or win, but ultimately had no way to force an extra end.
Sweden advances to the gold-medal game against Australia’s Team Tahli Gill/Dean Hewitt, who edged out Italy 7-6 in an extra end in the other semifinal.
