Canada bounces back with a victory at World Mixed Doubles Championship

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND — Canada’s Kadriana and Colton Lott rebounded with a crucial win on Wednesday at the 2026 ACE & Company World Mixed Doubles Championship.

The duo from Gimli, Man., defeated Germany’s Team Kim Sutor/Sixten Totzek (4-3) by a score of 7-4 at Centre Sportif Sous-Moulin. It was a solid bounce-back effort after losing to Scotland on Tuesday evening.

With national coaches Scott Pfeifer and Viktor Kjell, the Canadians (6-1) seized control by stealing three in the third end. Canada drew for three behind cover, and Germany’s missed tap resulted in a costly steal.

“That definitely gave us control of the game,” Colton said. “Once we had the lead, we never let go. It was a great way to start strong.”

Freshly textured rocks created significant swing on the ice, which suited the Canadians. Although this led to extra mistakes for both teams, Canada’s ability to quickly adapt to the conditions proved crucial against a German team close behind them in the standings.

“There are a few things we want to clean up,” Kadriana said. “A few times, we were just on the wrong side of the inch. But it was a fresh sheet with new rocks, so we’ll look to sharpen that up.”

Germany opened with the hammer and scored two points. Canada replied with a single in the second and a pivotal steal of three in the third. In the fourth, Canada’s final stone forced Germany to take just one. The fifth end saw Canada score two by slicing a stone into the button, while in the sixth, they held Germany to a single on the power play. Canada added a single with their own power play in the seventh and ran Germany out of stones in the eighth.

With this win, Canada remains tied with Italy’s Team Stefania Constantini/Amos Mosaner atop Pool B, holding the head-to-head tiebreaker. The Canadians finish round robin play Thursday with games against Czechia’s Team Petra Klimova/Lukas Klima (3-4) at 4 a.m. (all times Eastern) and Switzerland’s Team Stefanie Berset/Philipp Hoesli (4-3) at 1 p.m.

Two wins on Thursday would secure first place in the pool for Canada and a bye to the semifinals on Friday evening. Only the top team in each 10-team pool advances directly, while the second- and third-ranked teams play qualification games earlier that day.
