Torneo de Ajedrez del Caribe a la Rueda Rueda
The VII Torneo de Ajedrez del Caribe a la Rueda Rueda 2025 is a prestigious chess tournament organized by the Fundación a la Rueda Rueda in Colombia, aimed at promoting chess among children and adolescents aged 6 to 17. This event, now in its seventh edition, has become one of Colombia’s most significant youth chess tournaments, fostering cognitive development, creativity, and competitive spirit.
It is yet another massive event, with 6350+ participants registered. Since its inception in 2019, the tournament has engaged over 22,000 young players, with more than 80,000 games played.

Virtual Elimination Rounds (May 10 – June 12, 2025):
- Eight virtual eliminatory rounds using the Swiss system.
- These rounds determine which players advance to the in-person phases.
- Hosted on ChessKid, ensuring a standardized and accessible competitive environment.
In-Person Elimination Rounds (Dates to be Confirmed):
- Semifinals are held in various Colombian cities, such as Bogotá, Cartagena, Puerto Colombia, Montería, and Medellín (based on previous editions).
- These rounds narrow down the competitors for the final.
Grand Final (October 4–5, 2025):
- Held in Barranquilla, the traditional host city for the tournament’s final.
- Features the top players from each category and modality, competing for the championship titles
The competition is further divided into five age-based categories (absolute, meaning open to all genders):
- Sub-8: Born in 2017 or later
- Sub-10: Born in 2015–2016
- Sub-12: Born in 2013–2014
- Sub-14: Born in 2011–2012
- Sub-17: Born in 2008–2010 Players may compete in a higher age category but not a lower one, and they must remain in their chosen category throughout the tournament
