When to switch to the Stonewall attack

Recently I got a chance to play the K-C. Black's defense included the moves h6, Be7 and QNd7 which are kind of anti-Colle. I switched to a Stonewall attack and enjoyed playing it.

Now I wonder if there are any general rules for when is a good time to switch.
