Afloat at last..
At last !! After much research... and many changes of mind...we decided to buy an Old Town Pack. The biggest draw was the fact that i need to be able to carry her THROUGH our house to get to the road...on my own. The 14kg was too great to resist. The other bonus is that she fits INSIDE our venerable VW Caravelle ! So Sunday past we decided to head for the mighty Thames. Thanks to Paddle Points we parked at the small car park next to the river on the Portsmouth Road opposite Grove Road....great access and free on a Sunday ! (Free parking in Kingston - i checked the board twice)
It is fair to say we were early and the river was quiet and peaceful.....we got going because on such a beautiful day i knew it would not last. The Pack is a great little boat...felt steady despite one of the twins sat on the (lowered) seat and me kneeling. (The previous owner had fitted a KT and i am experimenting with the height)
Of course the twins had to have a paddle...one at a time...
And the first picnic of the year...across from Hampton Court
Kate and i paddled back to the van...down a now much busier river...stopping for bank snacks...as you do
Hoping to get out again this weekend and hopefully join the Wey crew on one of your group outings soon.
Thanks for reading,
Rich
