‘That old man is strong as f-ck’: Barrios reacts to draw with Pacquiao
Mario Barrios didn’t get a win but will keep his world title after going head-to-head with Manny Pacquiao.
Following his draw with Manny Pacquiao over the weekend, WBC welterweight titleholder Mario Barrios spoke to boxing media about his thoughts on the fight and what it was like going up against a legend like Pacquiao. Here’s some of what Barrios had to say below.
Barrios on how he’d compare Pacquiao’s power to Tank’s
“I don’t compare power like a lot. Pacquiao can definitely crack, Tank can definitely crack — it’s one of the few fights where I’ve touched the canvas. But, yeah, that old man is strong as f-ck.
“As soon as he and I started like letting his punches go, he was solid.”
On what he learned from fighting Pacquiao
“I learned a lot, you know, just being in there with somebody like him, having to make those adjustments round by round and trying to figure him out, and him trying to figure me out. That’s that high speed chess and playing chess with somebody with his type of experience can only benefit me in my career.”
On if he felt he had to win the last rounds to win the fight
“Not that I was down on the cards but just to make sure I solidify the win I knew I had to pick it up.”
