Results from Korakuen Hall - Uematso, Kimura and Wake win, Tamura and Mori ends in disappointment

0 2
Earlier today Korakuen Hall played host to an interesting card that featured a mix of emerging hopefuls and veterans towards the end of their respective careers.

One of the hopefuls in action was Takumi Uematsu (6-0) [植松卓美], who extended his unbeaten start as a profession as he took a 6 round shut out over Ryo Hoshino (6-3-2, 2) [星野凌], and continued to move towards bigger and better fights. Although a talented fighter, Uematsu is likely to be held back by his lack of power, but at this level he’s going to have continued success.

Once touted hopeful Rentaro Kimura (8-1, 4) [木村蓮太朗] took an early blow out win over Filipino visitor Jess Rhey Waminal (16-11-1, 9), with a body shot in just over a minute into the opening round. Sadly this bout was marred by the fact both fighters missed weight, with the bout going ahead at a catch weight, and Kimura did apologise for missing weight after the win. Sadly for Kimura, who was once seen as a true hope for boxing in Shizuoka, his career does seem likely to come up short of expectations, with injuries under-whelming performance and now missing weight. Despite that he is a legitimate talent, and we hope it can all come together for him, as he is a very special fighter, with exceptional skills and abilities.

Former world title challenger Shingo Wake (31-8-2, 22) [和氣慎吾] did as many expected, as he easily over-come Prathip Chinram (8-6, 3), via a 2nd round TKO. Wake dropped the Thai visitor 3 times in round 2, forcing the stoppage. Despite the solid result Wake did say round 2 was a tough one and added that he wanted to secure a big fight next time out.

Sadly the main event, which saw former Japanese Super Bantamweight champion Ryoichi Tamura (15-8-2, 7) [田村亮一] clash with Asato Mori (9-4-1, 5) [森朝登], and by clash we mean literally, with a headclash about 2 minutes into the bout leaving Mori busted open. A doctor’s inspection quickly concluded the bout at an official time of 2:10 of the opening round, giving us a really disappointing and inconclusive finish to a bout that seemed like it could have been a very fun war.
