Daud Yordan scores win in Thailand!

Earlier today in Pattaya, Thailand, Indonesian fighter Daud Yordan (39-4-0-1, 27) claimed his latest win, beating the over-matched Patomsith Pathompothong (21-12, 10) , aka Aekkawee Kaewmanee.
Yordan was fighting for the first time since losing in the UK to Anthony Crolla in a world title bout last November and showed some ring rust, but never looked in any trouble as he beat and worked over the Thai fighter. Through out the contest it seemed like Patomsith had little to offer and that he was there to make up the numbers in what was little more than a show case for Yordan.
After 5 rounds the 37 year old Thai pulled out of the contest, retiring in his corner, to take his 12th career loss, and his 6th by stoppage.
After the contest Yordan was awarded the specially created WBC International challenge belt. It's unclear why the WBC created a new title for this bout, though it does appear to be little more than a ceremonial belt rather than one associated with any particular ranking. Again it's unclear why the WBC would go to this extent, but we've come to expect the bizarre from the WBC in recent years.
Interestingly, in the build up to the fight, one of the show's promoter had aired some issues with the WBC supervisor for the show and it's unclear how those issues were solved.
Other than Yordan's win there was very little on the show of any interest, though Thai fighter Yuttana Yongda (14-24, 10) did mange a rare win as he took out Thomas Newton (2-2, 1) in the 3rd round, scoring a 3 knockdowns
