Bisping says Gustafsson ‘totally destroys’ Luke Rockhold
Michael Bisping talks about the possible matchup between Alexander Gustafsson and Luke Rockhold.
According to MMA veteran Michael Bisping, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) ‘may’ be looking to book an interim light heavyweight title fight between Alexander Gustafsson and Luke Rockhold.
‘The Count’ let slip on Twitter when, in response to a fan, he said that he would like to retire at 205 pounds - possibly against Rockhold.
Honestly............ I don’t know. But, I hear the last person I knocked out may be fighting for an interim belt. If he wins I’m in. I’m 225 right now and pretty ripped. Never making 185 again. https://t.co/OWz2gxfSUZ

Bisping, 39, knocked out Rockhold to win the middleweight title back at UFC 199 in 2016, becoming the first British champion in the promotion’s history.
When asked who he thought would win an interim title bout between Gustafsson and Rockhold, ‘The Count’ candidly stated that ‘The Mauler’ would ‘totally’ destroy Rockhold at 205 lbs.
If you believe the internet. I’d love either. I really would. FYI, @AlexTheMauler smashes @LukeRockhold , I mean totally destroys him https://t.co/3cxYsV9ycz

The only reason an interim championship bout between Gustafsson and Rockhold is on the cards is because current LHW champ Daniel Cormier, who is a longtime friend and teammate of Rockhold, is moving up in weight to challenge Stipe Miocic for the heavyweight title at UFC 226 on July 7.
Gustafsson, a two-time light heavyweight title challenger, has been critical of Cormier’s decision to move up to heavyweight and has promised to KO Rockhold to keep himself ‘warm’.
Bisping, the former middleweight titleholder, hasn’t fought since his knockout loss to Kelvin Gastelum at UFC Fight Night 122 in Shanghai, China. The Brit is expected to retire after his next bout, although he’s not committed to a return anytime soon, as stated in his initial tweet.
