Who would you trade out of Randle, Nance, and Zubac?
Three assumptions lead to this question.
- Mozgov and Deng aren't moveable. I would love to trade them, but it's going to take too much to move them, so it won't happen. The only way to trade them is to play them and get their value back up.
- Randle and Nance are our two best frontcourt players.
- Zubac has too much potential to sit on the bench.
It's really a pretty simple equation. You have to play Rande, Nance, or Zubac and you have to play guys getting paid as much as Mozgov and Deng. That leaves five guys competing for two positions and somebody is going to be the 5th man that hardly gets any minutes. Ingram and Brewer have SF locked down, so Deng isn't playing there.
So what do you do? Either Randle, Nance, or Zubac is most likely getting traded this offseason for a guard, especially if we don't get Fultz or Ball. We can speculate all day on what we could get back for those guys, but who would you trade if you had to?
I honestly don't know who I would trade. My gut says Randle, but when he's dialed in he is something special. Then I think Zubac, but his ceiling is crazy high. Then I think about Nance's injury issues, but he's such a good glue guy. It's really a tough call. I guess if you forced me to choose I'd go with Randle just because he is going to get a big raise soon and I'm not sure he'll be worth it.
Ugh I hate the Deng and Mozgov contracts.
