Thunder's Hartenstein keeps giving back to the youth, unveils new basketball court to Boys & Girls Club

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Oklahoma City Thunder center Isaiah Hartenstein is giving back to the community once again after surprising the Boys and Girls Club of Oklahoma County on Wednesday with a new outdoor community basketball court.

Hartenstein and his family joined the kids on the court for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the Club's new community basketball court. They were joined by Rumble the Bison and the Thunder girls, who helped celebrate the occasion.

"This is kind of where it all started for me. It was just on an outdoor court; this was a dream," said Hartenstein to the kids. "And so now, to be able to give the next generation the opportunity to dream and the opportunity to achieve their goals in life, but to also have fun and be kids, and I think that's just one of the main things, just having fun being kids."

The kids got their chance to use their brand new court by participating in some skills drills with Thunder Youth Basketball coaches, and capped it off with one-on-one drills led by Hartenstein himself.

"Me and my family, we're always trying to find new ways to give back to the city. I think the City has done so much for me and my family, so anytime we can find ways to especially help the kids out, it's always big for us," said Hartenstein.

The Hartenstein Foundation has continuously built a relationship with the Boys and Girls Club of Oklahoma County as they continue to try to make a positive impact on the Oklahoma City youth community.

On Sunday, September 21, Hartenstein and the Hartenstein Foundation surprised 12 kids with the Club by taking them on a shopping spree at a local sporting goods store, where each kid was given a $300 gift card to buy themselves new clothes, shoes, equipment and other items.
