Five-star Caleb Holt ‘impressed’ by Providence visit
By ADAM ZAGORIA
Five-star Prolific Prep (CA) guard Caleb Holt took an official visit to Providence this past weekend and came away impressed.
“The Providence visit went extremely well,” his father, Desman Holt, told ZAGSBLOG on Monday. “We were really impressed with Coach [Kim] English and his staff.”
The 6-foot-5 guard is ranked the No. 1 shooting guard in the Class of 2026, per 247Sports.com.
He previously visited Kentucky and Alabama and is also slated to visit Arizona and Auburn.
“My job is just to guide Caleb, but also gauge where he is. I want to make sure he’s not making a decision in the heat of the moment based on emotion,” Desman previously told On3.com. “We sit down, talk about the pros and cons, and all the things that really matter to him and us as a family.”
He added: “We want him to go into a stable situation, a program that’s transparent.”
As a sophomore, he averaged 20.2 points and 9.5 rebounds per game and was named the Alabama Mr. Basketball, the Class 6A Player of the Year, the Gatorade and MaxPreps Alabama Player of the Year and ASWA Super All-State. Holt led Buckhorn (Ala.) to a second state title and was named MVP of the state tournament.
“[He’s a] consummate winner and two-way impact [player],” Prolific Prep coach Ryan Bernardi said. “Caleb will go down as one of the most accomplished high school players in the recent history.”
