By JAMES MADDEN
Furman transfer center Cooper Bowser is the latest top transfer to come off the board and is headed to Arkansas, On3 first reported. After spending three seasons at Furman, Bowser will head join the Razorbacks with one season of eligibility remaining.
In his junior season for the Paladins, he averaged 13.8 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1,2 blocks per game, shooting an astounding 76.6% from the field.
With Furman reaching the NCAA Tournament this season, Bowser played a major role in the Paladins’ run through the SoCon bracket, including an eye-popping 21 points and 11 rebounds in their championship win over East Tennessee State.
At 6-foot-11, Bowser could be a starter for John Calipari’s squad right away next season, especially with the Razorbacks expected to lose their three top big men in Trevon Brazile, Nick Pringle and Malique Ewin (who may reportedly apply for a waiver).
Bowser is the first transfer portal addition of Arkansas’ offseason but will join a list of newcomers that includes five-star Jordan Smith Jr., JJ Andrews and Abdou Toure.
