Warriors: Steve Kerr is ‘relatively optimistic’ Jimmy Butler will play in Game 3
Warriors star Jimmy Butler is hoping to play in Game 3, which is a great sign for Dub Nation.
All things considered, the Golden State Warriors have gotten good news over the past couple of days, as Jimmy Butler avoided a catastrophic injury. With a deep glute muscle contusion, Butler’s return will be based on his ability to manage playing through pain. On Friday, Dubs head coach Steve Kerr discussed Butler’s questionable status and told reporters he was “relatively optimistic” that he will suit up for Game 3 on Saturday night.

Butler took a scary fall during the first quarter of Wednesday’s Game 2 against the Houston Rockets, and was quickly ruled out by team trainers. Late in the first quarter Butler leaped high in the air for a rebound and a put-back attempt. Rockets wing Amen Thompson stumbled through Butler’s lower half, turning the star parallel to the ground about five feet in the air. Butler landed flat on the ground, seemingly landing on both his back and tailbone.
It’s no secret that the Warriors will have to rethink everything if Butler is unavailable or heavily limited by the injury. All the fan base can do is hope that he’s able to overcome the pain and help Steph Curry carry Golden State on a deep run.
