And Garnett knows hard work when he sees it

As you probably know, some recent photos of former Blue Devil Zion Williamson show him in obviously the best shape of his life.

Williamson is 6-6 and listed currently at 284 on the New Orleans Pelicans’ roster.

Williamson says he’s currently 281 but when you compare this recent photo to the photo on the official site...it doesn’t make sense. He’s clearly lost a significant amount of weight. He cannot possibly weigh practically the same in the second photo as he does in the first. There’s an obvious physical difference. We’d say it has to be at least 15 pounds.

Williamson says it’s 284 and he plans to be at 272 when he gets to training camp.

Obviously people are talking about his transformation and among those doing so is is NBA great Kevin Garnett, who grew up in Greenville about 40 miles west of Williamson’s hometown of Sparta. KG says this: “I’m seeing pictures of Zion, Lord. He looks like he’s back in high school—he look 185. Shout out to Zion, you’re working, young man. That’s what’s up. I hope you have a great year.”

The NBA season opens on October 22nd and Williamson appears to be on a mission. It’s going to be fun to see where he can take this - and what he can do when he’s carrying around much less weight.
