Stephen Curry, Draymond Green want input role, not final say in Warriors transactions

0 2
Sources told ESPN that neither Curry nor Green want to be “final decision-makers” in regards to roster moves or transactions. But they do want to be consulted. “Steph has said, ‘Look, I do not want to be making those decisions,'” a source told ESPN. “It puts me in a different spot than all of my teammates. I do not want that.”

Stephen Curry isn’t shooting well at the Olympics. His ‘too small’ action with LeBron James unlocks Team USA’s offense, anyway ⁦@TheAthleticNBA⁩ nytimes.com/athletic/56811…10:17 AM

More on this storyline

Draymond Green: In the three minutes that Rudy checked in, Shai started getting off. That’s when it started to turn the corner for Shai, and then he came back out. I think his finger was messed up. We don’t know quite what’s coming out of the French national team side. It seems like a little bit of a misunderstanding. Nonetheless, the guys that were supposedly better as far as a matchup, they got off, and France is moving on.” -via YouTube / August 7, 2024
Sources added Curry and Green are exhibiting trust that what has happened this offseason can help the team — as long as the team remains competitive. “I want to win. Let’s put it this way, it’s a long winded way of saying that if it is a situation where you’re a bottom feeder and it’s just because you want to stay there, I’d have a hard time with that,” Curry told Andscape. “But I don’t think that’s going to be the reality.” -via ESPN / August 7, 2024
Draymond Green: “When Usain Bolt was running, everybody else was fighting for a silver and bronze medal, and that is absolutely incredible. When Usain ran, we all knew, all right, the most interesting part of the race was like, is Usain going to take it serious enough to break the record, or who’s coming in second and third place? That’s what you’re looking for. That’s kind of what we’re looking for in basketball these days. There’s all this talk of, like, oh man, other countries are catching up to the USA in basketball, and it just does not quite seem that way. It actually seems the total opposite. It actually seems like it’s growing even further apart. Team USA is even better, and so that’s kind of where we are.” -via YouTube / August 7, 2024
“Steph Curry is extension eligible this week, really only a one-year thing that’s not a huge deal. Once he gets back from Paris, leading into camp will be a month for him to gather his thoughts on the future. He’s made a two-year commitment. I think they can come to camp with this 14 believing they can win games, set themselves up in a position, get growth from the young guys, play better, keep Draymond eligible the whole season, and be in a good spot to strike down the line. They still have appealing trade assets and potential growth candidates. You’re not entering the season if you’re Steph believing this is a guaranteed lottery team. They’ll tank. He’ll take time to focus on winning this gold medal and complete that task. Knowing Steph, he can compartmentalize within the profession rationally.” -via YouTube / August 7, 2024
LeBron James and Stephen Curry run a play they call “too small.” It’s an action where Curry, Team USA’s shortest player at 6-foot-2, sets a screen for James, one of the greatest drivers to the rim of all time because of his 6-8, 260-pound frame and stunning athleticism. Often in this play with Curry, the defender who switches onto James is “too small” to stop him. -via New York Times / August 5, 2024
