Four-star Jaylen Harrell commits to Providence

Jaylen Harrell, a four-star wing in the class of 2025, has committed to Providence, he told ZAGSBLOG Monday.

The 6-foot-6 CATS Academy (MA.) and Expressions Elite product chose the Friars over Rutgers, Xavier, Virginia Tech, Alabama and Kansas.

“The reason is how close I am with everyone on their staff and how hard they have recruited me,” he said. “They have made it known that I am a priority for them and how my play style would fit their system perfectly.”

In terms of that play style, Harrell is known for his two-way ability. He excels at creating mismatches and often takes smaller guards into the post, or uses his quickness to create separation from a bigger defender.

“I’m a two way player that can score the ball whenever I want,” he said. “[I’m] a person that can play 1-4 and makes their teammates better. I can also bully smaller guards for easy layups but blow by people bigger than me.”

Harrell is the second commit in Providence’s class of 2025, joining five-star Jamier Jones. The duo are working on recruiting Jones’ high school and AAU teammate Jalen Reece. Reece is a four-star point guard who has been hearing from the Friars, Cincinnati and Michigan the most. He recently broke down his recruitment to ZAGSBLOG.

“Me and Jamier jones have been trying to get Jalen Reece to join the family,” Harrell said.
