76ers interested in Paul George?

0 6
That is the same path the Philadelphia 76ers plan to pursue this summer, according to league sources. … With those bookends in place, Philadelphia is focused on filling the gap between them with an elite, two-way wing, sources said. … For all those complications, Philadelphia does have the cleanest path to making Paul George a new home. The Sixers are willing to spend future money and sacrifice draft capital, league sources told Yahoo Sports, in the name of chasing next year’s title. George has been on Morey’s radar since the executive’s time running the Rockets, sources said, when Houston personnel were more than aware of George’s affinity for ending up in Los Angeles — where his parents now regularly sit courtside for his games.

OG Anunoby has been re-attached to the Sixers ahead of free agency. Can they (and should they) steal him from the Knicks?

More on this storyline

Ryan Dunn: “There are a lot of players I watch like Paul George and Herb Jones too defensively. I think the closest I probably have is OG Anunoby right now with him in the playoffs with his size and strength defensively.” -via HoopsHype / May 21, 2024
Ja’Kobe Walter: “I’d say Kawhi Leonard. He’s in the mid-range a lot and being a great scorer. Defensively, he’s always competing. I’ve always been watching him. He’s going to be my comparison.” “He’s a great two-way player, and his mid-range game is strong. I like to emulate that, and defensively, he’s outstanding. I also watched Paul George for his handles and ability to score from anywhere. My favorite player is KD, but I was trying to emulate Kawhi and Paul George more.” -via HoopsHype / May 21, 2024
“A lot of these guys I’m playing against — KD, Bron, Steph, Paul George, [James] Harden — I’ve been watching since I was 8 or 9 years old,” Banchero said by telephone from Orlando shortly after the Magic’s May 5 finale. “Now that I’m in the league, it puts into perspective how long these guys have been playing at a super high level. There’s a lot of young talent that’s on the rise quick. There’s some of that where the guard is changing. These younger players are starting to have teams built around them and they’re in position to take over. You look at [Edwards]. The team he has around him is one of the best in the NBA. That’s motivation for me.” -via Washington Post / May 17, 2024
