Jarrett Allen to miss Game 6 vs. Magic?

0 8
Cleveland Cavaliers starting center Jarrett Allen did not practice as he continues to be slowed by a painful rib injury that could keep him out of Friday night’s critical Game 6 in Orlando. Allen didn’t dress for Cleveland’s 104-103 win in Game 5 on Wednesday. The team said Allen, who was injured in Game 4, only received treatment Thursday and did rehab work as his teammates prepared for the Magic. Cleveland holds a 3-2 lead and can close out the Eastern Conference first-round series with a road win over the Magic, who won Games 3 and 4 at home by a combined 61 points.

Nothing against him, at all, but if Jarrett Allen (ribs) can play in Game 6, the Cavs should think seriously about bringing him off the bench. Here’s why, ⁦@TheAthleticNBA⁩ theathletic.com/5466689/2024/0…2:09 PM

Through the first 4 games of this series, #Cavs were being outscored by about 20 points per 100 possessions without Jarrett Allen. But Evan Mobley stepped forward and grew up in Game 5.
On the block that has Cleveland one win from redemption:

Over the years, members of #Cavs have referred to Jarrett Allen as the player they can’t win without. On Tuesday night, in the biggest game of the season, Cleveland found a way. Thanks, in large part, to Evan Mobley who is growing up on the playoff stage.

Kendra Andrews: Jarrett Allen, who is listed as questionable for tonight with a right rib contusion, will warm up before his status is determined, Bickerstaff says. Between Carter’s physical presence in the lineup and the pressure the Magic applied to Mitchell and Garland, Orlando had a ton of juice to attack Cleveland’s interior defense in a way that did not seem possible through two games. “You could tell that (Magic coach) Jamahl Mosley did an excellent job planning for this game,” said Jarrett Allen, whose 15 points and eight rebounds were good but not nearly enough. “There’s times when I was just in the corner, I stood in the corner last game, but, just overall, you could see tiny differences that accumulate into a lot.” -via The Athletic / April 26, 2024
