Report: Jaden Schutt Enters The Transfer Portal
That’s understandable but too bad all the same.
The annual roster shuffle has become a predictable thing in college basketball now and Duke has seen Christian Reeves, Mark Mitchell and Jaylen Blakes move on to greener pastures.
Now you can add Jaden Schutt to that list too.
Schutt told On3.com that he’d be departing. He leaves with kind words for Duke and Jon Scheyer, saying this to On3: “Forever grateful for my time in Durham. The experience has been like no other and I have developed wonderful relationships with coaches, teammates, and the community that I hope last a lifetime. I appreciate Coach Scheyer for giving me an opportunity to be a part of his first ever recruiting class. Duke is a special place and I have nothing but good things to say about the place I have called home for the last two years. With that being said, I will be entering the transfer portal with three years of eligibility.”
We had high hopes for Schutt and we’re guessing he’ll do well wherever he ends up. He has a real gift and just needs some time to develop it.
This is a small thing but worth mentioning: it’s our strong impression that Duke is not writing the statements for the players who have opted to transfer. Yet they all speak of how much they enjoyed Duke and respect Scheyer. We hate to see them leave, but how cool is that?
