Texas Tech adds UNC transfer Kerwin Walton

North Carolina transfer Kerwin Walton is headed to play for Mark Adams at Texas Tech.

“I really like the basketball atmosphere around Texas Tech,” Walton said to On3. “I felt that I could make an immediate impact and help the team win and continue to grow as a basketball player.”

The 6-foot-5 Walton averaged 8.2 points as a freshman and shot 42 percent from deep, and then 3.4 points and 35 percent last season.

Walton initially committed to UNC in April 2020.

He is one of 10 new players at Texas Tech, including Utah Valley transfer Fardaws Aimaq, who averaged 18.9 points and 13.6 rebounds last season as a junior.
