[Women's Basketball] Park Comes From Behind to Clip Spring Arbor
With California Pacific Conference action scheduled to tip off next Saturday, Jan. 8, several conference programs got in final non-conference action to prepare for the all-important conference games. Park-Gilbert overcame a sluggish three quarters performance with 24-point fourth period and a come-from-behind 64-60 win over visiting Spring Arbor. With 4:14 remaining in the third quarter, the Buccaneers trailed by 15, its largest deficit of the game, having scored only five points in the second half. Valerie Van Dijk, who was making her Park debut after transferring from Ottawa (Ariz.) and sitting out the first 12 games, made her presence felt down the stretch, scoring 10 of her team-high 16 points over the last 12 minutes of the game. The Bucs went on a 14-0 run to end that period and to start the fourth to take a 44-43 lead. The two teams then exchanged the lead six times until Park took the lead for good on a Macy Markus field goal 52-50.
