Lakers Trade Rumors Tracker
We’ll be keeping an updating list of all the reputable Lakers trade rumors during the 2020 offseason here.
When the NBA transaction window opens, teams that have gone months without being able to make any trades are going to start wheeling and dealing, which means there are going to be a deluge of Lakers trade rumors in addition to all the players connected to the team in free agency.
With trades as arguably the most realistic way the Lakers can improve their roster, the team is being linked to numerous players before that window even opens. As the madness continues, we’ll be making an effort to track all of the (reputable) reporting connecting various players to the Lakers here. So bookmark this page and stay tuned for updates as what promises to be a wild summer unfolds.

Now, without further ado, let’s get into the latest:
Players the Lakers might acquire
Chris Paul
- NBA executives expect the Lakers to engage the Thunder in trade talks for for Chris Paul, while Paul himself reportedly prefers to end up in New York or Los Angeles this offseason.
- Kendrick Perkins of ESPN — so take this with a grain of salt, as Perk isn’t exactly known as a reporter — says Paul will end up on the Lakers. His fellow sports-related entertainer, Stephen A. Smith, says otherwise, so I think these two just cancel each other out.
- Paul has also been linked to the Suns.

DeMar DeRozan
- The Lakers have reportedly discussed a Kyle Kuzma and Danny Green for DeRozan swap with the San Antonio Spurs. When asked about those rumors, DeRozan said he was honored his hometown team would be interested in him.
Dennis Schroder
- Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka is said to really like Schroder, and while the Sixth Man of the Year runner-up says he didn’t want to go to the Lakers at the past trade deadline, the front office reportedly still very much has interest in a deal for him. Expect more noise on this as the offseason continues.
- Schroder fits the bill to potentially be the productive mystery guard that the Lakers are said to be targeting.
Derrick Rose
- The Lakers haven’t been definitively linked to Rose since the February trade deadline — when they did try to deal for him and had their offer rejected — but given the team’s previous interest in him and his production last season making him also fit the bill of the mystery guard the Lakers are said to be interested in, don’t be shocked if the veteran guard on an expiring deal gets more officially linked to Los Angeles soon.
Players the Lakers might trade
Kyle Kuzma
- In addition to the aforementioned deal for DeRozan, the Lakers have also reportedly taken other trade calls on Kuzma, even if they’re still “open” to extending him. However, don’t expect them to necessarily reach an agreement on a new deal, because Kuzma is said to be looking for a “sizable” contract.
Danny Green
- Green was linked to a return to the Spurs in the previously mentioned DeRozan deal, and his big expiring contract and underwhelming first season in purple and gold will make him a major source of speculation and rumors all offseason. Green knows that, and says he’s not worried about it.
Alex Caruso
- Don’t panic yet: There haven’t been any definitive stories about the Lakers potentially moving Caruso since the February trade deadline, when the team reportedly offered him in a deal for Derrick Rose that the Detroit Pistons rejected. However, given that he’s under a cheap contract, is one of the few role players who isn’t a free agent with trade value after this playoff run, and the fact that apparently just about every team that calls the Lakers wants to trade for him, don’t be shocked to hear his name in a few rumors as the offseason continues.
